Ear Wax Removal

ONDC

DO NOT use or try any of the below to remove ear wax:

  • Ear syringing
  • DIY home wax management treatments
  • Cotton buds, hair pins, or any similar objects

All the above can cause damage to the eardrum and ear canal and cause infection

Everyone has ear wax, it’s an oily, waxy substance naturally produced by a special lining in the ear.  This ear wax is used to protect and lubricate the ears and acts as a self-cleaning mechanism against dirt, dust and dead skin cells so they don’t get deeper within the ear causing infection.

Everyday movements of the jaw, like chewing and talking, help with this. You won’t usually notice the wax come out, and it normally washes off when you shower or have a bath. However, wax can sometimes cause issues if it can’t naturally make its way out of the ear canal. This might occur for some due to a narrow or bendy ear canal, for others it is the result of excessive wax production.

If your ears become completely blocked with wax, you might notice a slight loss of hearing, a sensation of pressure in your ears, persistent ringing, or even discomfort. For those who use hearing aids, excessive wax can lead to annoying whistling sounds. If you find yourself dealing with any of these symptoms, it’s advisable to consider ear wax removal.

If you’re suffering from any of the above symptoms, contact us at ONDC Hearing Specialists for ear wax management & recommendations.
