ONDC's Frequently Asked Questions
On the day of your visit, please make sure to bring the following:
- GP Referral (if available)
- Medicare card
- Savings/Debit card
This will ensure you receive your Medicare Rebate (if applicable) back on the same day.
- If you are a new client please attend 10 minutes prior to your appointment to fill in new client forms.
- Please ensure that your ears are wax-free.
- If you are having diagnostic testing done, please do not wear any makeup, moisturisers, creams or perfumes on face or neck and ensure your hair is free from products.
- Yes – we have limited on-site car parks available for our clients at both clinics.
- Additionally, our City clinic has 2-hours free street parking available on Gilles St.
Please help respect our neighbouring businesses by parking in ONDC-allocated spaces only or via Gilles Street.

- Depending on your appointment and why you were referred the price of your appointment may vary.
- ONDC Hearing Specialists offer zero-cost, no-obligation hearing tests to eligible Australian Pensioners, DVA Card holders, ADF and NDIS Clients. Contact our team to check your eligibility.
A referral is not required for a hearing test, however a GP or Specialist referral will entitle you to a nominal Medicare rebate.
For adults aged 60 and above, we recommend annual hearing evaluations, particularly if you have been subjected to industrial noise or are experiencing any signs of hearing loss. For those under 60, a hearing assessment every 3 to 5 years is recommended.
- Yes – for a hearing aid evaluation you will receive your results during the appointment once all assessments have been completed.
If you have been referred by a GP or Specialist, our Audiologists will provide them with a detailed report of your test results for further evaluation and discussion if required.
There are several factors that come with the cost of a hearing aid. Depending on the technology and brand of a hearing aid, the average price for a pair is between $2,200 – $8,500.
Recycling your hearing aid batteries responsibly helps us prevent hazardous waste from ending up in landfills. You can find secure recycling boxes at both of our Clinics. Additionally, there are various places around Adelaide, including Bunnings, local supermarkets, and Officeworks, that will gladly accept your used batteries.
At ONDC Hearing Specialists, we are committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to hear their best. We gather used hearing aids and donate them to developing nations, making sure that those in need can access the hearing assistance they deserve.
- Currently, at ONDC we will only remove earwax if it will impede us from completing required testing. Our fully trained Audiologists can remove it using a special magnifying light which enables them to clearly see the ear and the position of the wax in your ear. This allows them to remove it safely. To remove the wax, the Audiologist may use hand-held instruments to simply scoop it out. Alternatively, a suction device (used by many ENTs) may be used to suction it out.
